Diaverum, a leading global renal care service provider is proud to announce that its breakthrough VA thrombosis AI prediction model, has been recognised with an important award in Spain

The Premios Comunidad de Madrid (Madrid Community Awards), are organised by La Razón, one of Spain’s most prominent newspapers. Now in their fourth year, they aim to recognise organisations and companies that make a significant contribution to the economy of the city.

In an award ceremony held in the Spanish capital on 22 February, Diaverum was among 25 companies celebrated for their contribution to the economic prosperity and positioning of Madrid at the highest points of economic growth in the European Union. More specifically, the Community of Madrid saw a growth of 4.5% in 2021, a figure that exceeds the average for the rest of the state by two points .

Diaverum was selected for its high digitalisation capabilities, particularly for its breakthrough vascular access thrombosis AI prediction model. The award is a significant honour, since Spain, one of the largest markets in its network, was among the first three countries to roll out the AI model.

Representing Diaverum at the ceremony was José María Ordóñez, Country Manager for Spain. Commenting on the recognition, he said: “We are extremely proud of our VA model, which follows the principles of human-centric, explainable, and responsible AI. We believe this award serves as recognition of the fact that digital innovation is the way forward for the healthcare industry to unlock unprecedented levels of personalised, high-quality care.”

Fernando Macário, Diaverum’s Chief Medical Officer, added: “This recognition reinvigorates our drive to push digital forward. Our development teams in Sweden and Hungary are working on numerous projects to digitalise our care delivery model through 28 workstreams across five programmes: digitalisation of clinical workflows; digitalisation of non-clinical activities; mobile apps and services for patients; AI analytics and novel clinical insights; connected care infrastructure. We look forward to sharing more publicly as we deploy these.”
